    Mr. L: A Healing Experience

Mr. L has been a paraplegic for 12 years. On January 20, 2010 he was admitted to Kindred Hospital Nashville for wound care and antibiotic management.

Our wound care team, along with our plastics specialist, worked with Mr. L to promote optimal healing of his wounds. He was placed on a Clinitron bed, continued to receive antibiotics, and a wound vac was placed to promote healing. Physical and occupational therapists also worked with him to help regain strength and his independence.

    Mr. L

His wound progressed very well. Initial measurements were 8x2x12cm (depth), and on discharge the measures of his wound were 8x1x2cm (depth). Mr. L was anxious to recover so he could get home and see his first grandson. This motivated him to work hard with therapy and helped keep his spirits high.

He was able to be discharged to home with home health and a wound vac and will follow up with his local physicians. Most importantly, he was able to finally hold his precious first grandchild in his arms. He was so proud to be going home to his family.
